Wisdom From the World
“Empathy is about standing in someone else’s shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes. Not only is empathy hard to outsource, but it makes the world a better place.” – Daniel H. Pink
“When you show deep empathy towards others, their defensive energy goes down, and positive energy replaces it. That’s when you can get more creative in solving problems.” – Stephen Covey
“The key to becoming blessed is not to think about your blessing, but how you can be a blessing to someone else. In the act you will find your blessing. – Joel Osteen
Wisdom From the Word
“Jesus knew that the Father had put him in complete charge of everything, that He came from God and was on way back to God. So He got up from the supper table, set aside his robe and put on an apron. – John 13:3-6 (The Message)
“He sat down and summoned the Twelve. So you want first place? Then take the last place. Be the servant of all. He put a child in the middle of the room. Then cradling the little one in his arms, he said, ‘Whoever embraces one of these children as I do, embraces me, and far more than me – God who sent me.’ ” – Mark 1:35-37 (The Message)
“You’ve observed how godless rulers throw their weight around, how quickly a little power goes to their head. It’s not going to be that way with you. Whoever wants to be great must become a servant…” – Matthew 20:24, 25 (The Message)
Keep Me Real, Lord!
“Lord, help both of us to be willing collaborators to help our family run smoothly. Help me be a person of my word so that when I tell my mate I will do something, they can trust it will be done. Give me the empathy to understand how desperately my mate needs free time to feel human. Help me to facilitate their need while I own my own need for the same. Let me not be guilty of self neglect in the midst of caring for my family.”
