Wisdom From the World
“Happiness … consists in giving and in serving others.” – Henry Drummond
“My advice to a new husband is nothing more than ‘husbands, love your wives’. And “love your wife as Christ loved the church.’ Never forget that you are Christ’s representative in serving your wife.” – J.I. Packer
Wisdom From the Word
“If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, or His love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you. If you have a heart, if you care, then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other and be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand. – Philippians 2:1-4 (The Message)
Keep Me Real, Lord!
“Lord, give me a willingness to be alert to ways that I can lighten my partner’s load. Help me remember that their world and their pressures are different from mine. Sharpen my awareness of the multiple things they do. Help me to express gratitude. If I need extra help, teach me to ask for what I need. Thank you in advance for helping me to grow as a cooperative partner.”
