Wisdom From the World
“Any kind of creative activity is likely to be stressful. The more anxiety, the more you feel you are headed in the right direction. Easiness, relaxation, comfort-these are not conditions that usually accompany serious work.” – Joyce Carol Oaks
“Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom.” – Soren Kierkegaard
“All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common: It was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in their time. This, and not much else, is the essence of leadership.” – John Kenneth Galbraith
Wisdom From The Word
“Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again! They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves. – James 4:1,2 (The Message)
“My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness.” – Galatians 4:16 (The Message)
Keep Me Real, Lord!
“Lord, whenever I find myself moving out of my comfort zone, I experience the anxiety of the unfamiliar. Please help me to understand that even as I face the unknown, your Spirit is in me, reassuring me of your presence, love, and peace. Help me to learn to embrace the kind of anxiety in my relationship that is useful for my character development and/or for the good of our relationship. Keep me from the kind of selfishness that also causes anxiety, but accomplishes nothing worthwhile towards personal and/or relational growth.
