Wisdom From the World
“Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.” – Ambrose Bierce
“To carry a grudge is like being stung to death by a bee.” – William H Walton
“They never tell you that becoming a control freak will cost you a healthy love life. But it’s true. You can’t control somebody and have intimacy with them at the same time. They may stay because they fear you, but true love casts out fear.” – Donald Miller
Wisdom From the Word
“Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry-but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry. Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life.” – Ephesians 4:26,27 (The Message)
Keep Me Real, Lord!
“Lord, help me to become acutely aware of any attitude or action of mine that assumes that changing my partner is my job. If I find myself angry or nursing hurt feelings, help me to discern what the real issue is. Then help me to speak my truth in a way that ups the chance that my mate can hear me. Help me to deal with issues as they arise and then to let them go so I don’t give the devil a foothold in my life and our relationship.”
